NON-DISCRIMINATION STATEMENT
PROHIBITION OF DISCRIMINATION ON THE BASIS OF DISABILITY
Montecito Preschool, consistent with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), will not discriminate against any individual on the basis of disability in the full and equal enjoyment of its goods, services, privileges, advantages, or accommodations (the “services”). Montecito Preschool will also not discriminate against any individual because of the known disability of an individual with whom the individual is known to have a relationship or association. Montecito Preschool will not impose or apply eligibility criteria that screen out or tend to screen out an individual with a disability or any class of individuals with disabilities from fully and equally enjoying any services offered, unless such criteria can be shown to be necessary for the safe provision of such services.
Montecito Preschool understands that, in any group childcare setting, most children will need individualized attention occasionally. We recognize that a teacher or staff member may be required at times to provide such individualized attention, and that Montecito Preschool must make any reasonable modifications necessary to integrate, or otherwise afford its services to, children with disabilities. Modifications will be provided unless making such modifications would fundamentally alter the nature of its group-based childcare and educational program, or impose an undue burden, or constitute a direct threat to the health and safety of others.
To request a reasonable modification for a child, please contact Erin Mobley (erin@montecitoschool.com). Please submit your reasonable modification request in writing, if possible, to ensure clarity. Upon receiving a request for a reasonable modification, Montecito Preschool will initiate an interactive process with the parent(s), guardian(s), or caretaker(s) to explore what reasonable modification(s) may be appropriate pursuant to the ADA. In response to a request, Montecito Preschool may grant the request; make a narrowly tailored request for medical documentation relating to the child’s disability and the need for reasonable modification(s); offer a different reasonable modification that addresses the request; or deny the request and provide the reasons for denial in writing.
